Feeding the world’s growing population

New Zealand’s reputation as a quality food producer is growing.

Optimising food production

Over the next 50 years farmers around the world will need to produce more food than has been grown over the past 10,000 years.

Best use from a limited resource

Fertiliser helps farmers produce food efficiently by replenishing the soil. But fertiliser needs to be used responsibly.

Responsible and sustainable nutrient management

The Fertiliser Association invests in research and tools to ensure farm profitability while minimising nutrient losses to the environment.

The Fertiliser Association of New Zealand promotes and encourages responsible and scientifically-based nutrient management.

Nutrient Management Adviser Certification Programme hits 225 certified advisers

Our Nutrient Management Adviser Certification Programme (NMACP) now has 225 Certified Nutrient Management Advisers (CNMAs). This is up 194 from the same time last year.

59 of these CNMAs have the greenhouse gasses endorsement to help farmers and growers understand how to manage greenhouse gas emissions responsibly and sustainably.

"NMACP aims to ensure farmers get nutrient management advice of the highest standard," said Vera Power, Chief Executive of the Fertiliser Association of New Zealand.

"It's great to see the number of certified advisers increasing and I look forward to seeing this continue to grow over the year."

Certified advisers work in a wide range of organisations. These include fertiliser companies, consultancy firms, regional councils, food processing companies, farm advisory organisations and universities.

Hear what one of our CNMAs has to say…

Josh Verhoek from Ballance Agri-Nutrients is a CNMA. Here's what Josh has to say about the benefits to becoming certified?

"It's all about being able to provide trusted and credible advice, knowing that advisers are competent and audited each year. It also helps demonstrate the adviser is up-to-date with the latest science and research and therefore, helps to build that trust."

Visit the NMACP website for further information here.

The Fertiliser Association of New Zealand and Dairy NZ funded development of the Nutrient Management Adviser Certification Programme (NMACP). This industry-wide certification aims to ensure that advisers have the learning, experience and capability to give sound nutrient advice.
